About Us

Back Row Threads is a retro-inspired volleyball brand started by a dad and his daughter in 2024.

We launched because we were tired of seeing the same uninspired gear everywhere—on Amazon, at tournaments, and in team shops. Most of it was cookie-cutter: stock images, recycled slogans, and the same old “bump, set, spike” or “volleyball mom, dad, grandma” designs. None of it captured the real spirit of the game.

We wanted something different. Something that felt true to the experience of playing and living volleyball.

Every design at Back Row Threads comes straight from our lives in the game. Ideas are born from Ryan’s time on the court, from our family’s experiences traveling to club tournaments and high school matches, and from the conversations and laughs we share on the sidelines with teammates and parents alike. This brand is powered by the volleyball community we live in every day.

Our logo tells that story too: two fingers extended from a closed hand, the classic volleyball signal for “back row.” It’s a nod to the grit and energy that the back row represents. And we love that it doubles as a peace sign—because volleyball is about connection and community as much as it is about competition.

Back Row Threads isn’t about stock images or cookie-cutter slogans. It’s about real volleyball, real families, and designs that mean something when you wear them.

2026: Expanding the Vision

As the game grew for us, so did the brand.

In 2026, we expanded beyond Back Row Threads to introduce two new expressions of our volleyball life.

Scorpion Volleyball Company was born from the competitive edge of the sport — the intensity, the discipline, and the quiet confidence that separates good from great. Where Back Row Threads celebrates heritage and community, Scorpion represents the sharper side of the game: controlled, focused, and relentless. It’s built for athletes who compete with presence and let their play speak.

At the same time, we introduced Cabana Courts, a resort-inspired line rooted in the travel culture of volleyball. It reflects the long tournament weekends, the early mornings, the golden-hour matches, and the families who build memories between courts. Cabana Courts leans into that lifestyle — refined, relaxed, and quietly elevated.

Together, these lines reflect the full spectrum of volleyball as we experience it: grit and joy, intensity and connection, competition and community.

What started as a small retro idea between a dad and his daughter has grown into a broader expression of the game we love — still personal, still community-driven, and still inspired by real life on and around the court.
